Yann Pelloux

Junior Professor in Pharmacology

PhD

Tel:  +33(0)1.80.00.63.29

Area of research

Neuropharmacology, Neurobiology of addiction and emotional behavior, Animal Models of Psychiatric Disorders.

Expertise

Neuropsychological substrate of mental disorders with a particular emphasize on addictive disorders with recently a broader approach on physiological and pathological decision making

Research Theme

Dr Yann Pelloux graduated in 2003 in the laboratory of experimental neuropsychopharmacology at the university of Rouen under the supervision of professor Jean Costentin and doctor Dominique Duterte-Boucher investigating the role of various behavioural traits in the predisposition to use drugs in rodents. He then moved to Cambridge in the United Kingdom for a first post doc in the department of experimental psychology under the supervision of professor Barry Everitt working on the neuropsychological substrate of compulsive cocaine seeking. He then moved to the Bagamore laboratory of the institute of Neuroscience of La Timone in Marseille under the supervision of the doctor Christelle Baunez looking at the pertinence of targeting the subthalamic nucleus for the application of deep brain stimulation in the treatment of addictive disorders. Having been granted a NIDA/INSERM fellowship he moved to the national institute on drug abuse in Baltimore in the United States under the supervision of Yavin Shaham working on the neural basis of relapse to cocaine seeking and then moved in the Adam Mar’s lab at the department of neuroscience and physiology at the Langone center of New York University, investigating the role of cholinergic transmission in various mental disorders. Then granted a Marie Curie fellowship, he moved to the neuromodulation of cortical and subcortical systems laboratory of doctor Raffaella Tonini in Genoa Italy working on the role of serotoninergic transmission in decision making under uncertainty. He recently joined the CESP Mood where is currently working on the decision-making alteration in depressive disorders and its underlying brain mechanisms. He is using viral, genetic and pharmacological and electrical tools combined with parametric and rigorous behavioural manipulations and analysis to monitor or manipulate neural circuit activity and uncover the neural circuit dynamics responsible for making decision. He is collaborating with the different members of the lab to improve treatments against depressive disorders and prevent relapse through multidisciplinary and translational approach, from molecule to complex behaviour and from bench to bedside.
