After pharmacy studies, followed by an internship (Paris Hospitals), a PhD Thesis in Neuropharmacology led me to study the serotoninergic mechanisms of drugs (anti-obesity, antidepressants) related to the BDNF, a neurotrophic factor. During my post-doctoral fellowship at MIT (USA), I acquired innovative microsurgery and neurochemistry techniques (e.g., intracerebral microdialysis, knockout mice, animal models of anxiety-depression), and I established solid collaborations maintained by multiple stays. As a teacher-researcher, I led a small team (EA3544), before co-directing with Pr E. Corruble, psychiatrist, a « mixed » medicine / pharmacy team (Inserm, University Paris-Sud / Paris-Saclay) on the topic of antidepressant drug resistance. In this exhilarating activity, I federate a teaching and a dynamic and competitive research team with Colleagues mastering complementary approaches, within which we share a same vision of the fascinating profession of academic. Thus, we have recently shown that the fast antidepressant effect of ketamine, an NMDA glutamate receptor antagonist, is driven by a glutamate (excitation) / GABA (inhibition) balance acceleration in a neuronal circuit involving the prefrontal medial cortex. This opens new therapeutic avenues in a field, depression, lacking recent innovations.
